Buttons for Car privacy policy
The short version
- When you tap a button in your car, the request goes from your car directly to the web address you set up. It never passes through our servers, and we never see it or its answer.
- We store the buttons you create, so your car can load them. That's all we keep.
- No location, no driving data, no request logs, no tracking, no ads. We don't sell or share your data.
- You can delete your account and everything in it at any time.
What we store
- Your sign-in. When you sign in to the dashboard with Google, we keep the account number Google gives us for you. We don't store your name, email address or photo.
- Your buttons. Each button's name, icon, web address, method, headers and body, and its status settings, exactly as you enter them. Headers may include passwords or access keys for your own services; we only use them to send your buttons to your paired cars.
- Your paired cars. A name we assign ("Car 1"), the pairing date, and a scrambled (hashed) copy of each car's access key. We don't collect anything about the car itself.
- Sign-in sessions. A scrambled copy of each dashboard session key. Sessions end after 30 days.
- Pairing codes. The 6-character codes expire after 15 minutes or after one use.
What stays in your car
The app keeps its access key and a copy of your buttons on the car, encrypted with a key that never leaves the car. It sends nothing else to us. When you tap a button or the app checks a button's status, the car contacts your own web address directly.
What we don't collect
Location, contacts, car or driving data, the requests your buttons send or their answers, usage analytics, crash reports, and advertising identifiers.
Where your data is kept
On Cloudflare's servers, which run our dashboard and the service your car talks to. Cloudflare processes the data for us only to provide that service, and may store it in more than one country. All connections use encrypted HTTPS.
How long we keep it, and how to delete it
- We keep your buttons and paired cars until you delete them.
- Remove a car: on the dashboard under "Paired cars". It immediately stops loading your buttons.
- Delete everything: "Delete my account" on the dashboard removes your buttons, unpairs every car and signs you out everywhere, straight away.
- Or email us at [CONTACT EMAIL] and we'll delete it for you within 30 days.
Children
Buttons for Car is made for drivers and isn't directed at children.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change affects what we store, we'll say so on the dashboard first.
